Washing Instructions
Averneliving ceramics are handcrafted objects shaped by fire and clay. Proper care ensures longevity, preserves glaze integrity, and maintains the tactile beauty of each piece over time.
Daily Cleaning
Wash using warm water and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive sponges or steel wool as they may damage glaze surfaces and natural textures.
Dishwasher Use
Handwashing is strongly recommended. While some pieces may tolerate dishwashers, repeated exposure may gradually alter glaze finish and surface softness.
Drying Method
Air dry naturally. Avoid high heat drying systems which may cause thermal stress on ceramic structures.
1. Understanding Ceramic Texture
Each Averneliving ceramic piece carries a unique surface identity formed during kiln firing. These textures are not printed or coated—they are natural results of mineral reaction, flame flow, and ash deposition.
This means cleaning methods must respect surface porosity and glaze sensitivity. Harsh chemicals or acidic detergents may alter surface tone over time.
2. Stain Removal Guidance
For tea or coffee stains, soak in warm water for several minutes before gentle cleaning.
Avoid bleach or aggressive chemical cleaners as they may permanently alter glaze surfaces.
Natural baking soda solutions may be used sparingly for deeper cleaning when necessary.
Always rinse thoroughly to remove residue after cleaning.
3. Thermal Safety Guidelines
Do not expose ceramic items to sudden temperature changes such as moving directly from refrigerator to boiling water. This may cause thermal shock and structural cracking.
Allow gradual temperature transition to preserve durability.
4. Long-Term Care Philosophy
Averneliving ceramics are designed to age gracefully. Over time, surfaces may develop subtle changes in tone, sheen, and tactile feel. These transformations are part of the natural lifecycle of fired clay.
Unlike synthetic materials, ceramic evolves with use. This evolution is not degradation but maturation.
5. Handling Recommendations
Always hold cups and bowls with both hands when hot.
Avoid dropping or stacking heavy objects on ceramic surfaces.
Store separately to avoid friction and surface scratches.
